Quarterly Prayer Letter (August 2009)

As summer begins to wind down, I am beginning to look forward to my favorite time of the year: Fall. It seems every year that the months of September, October and November line up to be my most productive time of any given year and 2009 is lining up that way as well.

Before we look forward though, I want to brag on God a little and tell you all what He has been doing this summer. Summer got out to a rough start as I had some issues with my house in West Virginia. Nobody told me a few years ago when I bought my house, how difficult it would be to stay on top of things. So, after a few setbacks, Summer really got under way with the 15th Annual West Virginia Jubilee in Teays Valley, WV. After missing the GPA National Meeting, it was good to take this week and sit under good, strong, gospel preaching and singing. June was also VBS week at my home church, Elmwood Baptist in Barboursville.

July started off with a bang. On July 5, at our service at the Barboursville School, we had three saved by the Grace of God. Overall for the year, the Barboursville School ministry has now seen 17 professions of faith in 2009. Please pray for these kids as they all come from rough home lives and are all dealing with many emotional, physical and spiritual battles. Then, the week of July 20th, I hosted the youth group from Poston Baptist Church from North Carolina as they held a Backyard Bible Club here in Barboursville. During the Backyard Bible Club, 4 young people accepted Christ as Savior. Lastly, teens from approx. five churches in the area attended Church Camp in Blaine, Kentucky. Three more teenagers asked Jesus into their life that week. Needless to say, it has been an awesome summer.

Now, with September on the horizon, I ask that you all remember me in prayer. I have trips lined up to Winston Salem, NC, Blacksburg, VA, Morgantown, WV and Chicago, IL this fall. I still have plenty of weekends available to preach and would love to have a full schedule. Pastors, if you need somebody to fill your pulpit or would like me to come and present the ministry of Operation WATCH and GPA Short-Term missions, I would love to do just that. May God bless each of you in the work you’ve been given.
